Road Trip

ROAD TRIP--how else could someone celebrate their 33rd birthday? This morning Joe and I picked up our rental, a white eclipse convertible who we named Priscilla and we hit the open road. It was a total Thelma and Louise trip! We had our scarfs blowing in the wind and we listened to Patsy Cline (maybe they did not do that). We made our way through Indiana, which was pretty boring (I drove). Our trip then took us to Louisville, pronounced LOU-A-VEAL where we stopped to eat lunch at this very cute coffee shop right next to the University of Kentucky-Main campus. After filling our tummies, we then got lost (Joe was driving) trying to get back on 65. After a few detours we finally were successful.

Our journey through Kentucky was very pleasant. We noticed that a majority of the cities had "ville" in the name. As we were getting closer to Tennessee we got suck in traffic, luckily I had some snacks to tide us over. We almost got attacked by a T-Rex and some other dinosaurs but Priscilla was quick in getting away (Joe has video)!

We finally arrived in Nashville (our first stop on our trip) around 5:30 pm. We drove through downtown on the way to our hotel. We got to see the Grand Ole Opry building, the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Convention Center, etc. Downtown Nashville is basically a row of bars and restaurants which could be fun later on!

When we got to our hotel, which is the Hotel Indigo we got settled in and then got ready for our big night on the town! We went to Roberts Western World for dinner. There, we ate a fried bologna sandwich and a hamburger. The fried bologna was soooooooooooooooo good! I fell in love with it and wanted to marry it! After dinner, we did some bar hopping (I know it is hard to believe). One of the bars we went to called Stages was pretty low key until someone famous waled in. One of the members from Brooks and Dunn (I remember them from my Arizona days) Ronny Dunn had walked into the bar. Joe thought he was Hall or Oats from Hall and Oats which was funny because he is sporting the 80's do! He jumped on stage and sang three songs with the band. After taking pictures and texting people who I thought might know who he is we hung around for a bit. There was this one guy who was tearing up the dance floor by himself. He reminded me of the guy who was singing Karaoke on Wild Hogs (Mom and V you will know who I am talking about), which was very funny.

Tomorrow, we will visit the Grand Ole Opry and do some shopping on Broadway before we (Joe, Priscilla and myself) head to Memphis.

Maybe you should add fried bologna sandwiches to your Beach Buns menu.

Let me first say that a pilot is only as good as his co-pilot. Enough said about my "driving" abilities. ;-)
Well, the drive was more like Fear and Loathing in Las Vagas...including the gold sun glasses.
Make sure you get the pictures from Jamie.
