Our last day in Xela was Friday August 8th. It was one of the saddest days in my life. I could not believe that three weeks had gone by so quickly. I had such a great time there and would have to say that it has been one of the greatest vacations I have every been on and I will return again.
Our new friends Iris and Mario had a lunch for us and gave us some parting gifts to remember them and our time in Guatemala. The gift was very special because they took some of the stuff we did (pictures on a disc with Marimba music in the background), stuff we saw (a toy chicken) and things that we ate (candy) and put them together for us. We exchanged address, emails, and phone numbers as well as promising to visit each other again (either in Guatemala or in our states). They were so kind to drop us off at the shuttle office since we had so much stuff to take with us (three suitcases, two backpacks, and two extra bags all full of gifts!!).
We then boarded our shuttle to Antigua to enjoy our last weekend in Guatemala.
