Eve of the Eve

Today, on the Eve of the Eve that I leave I've had a chance to spend time with my friends. It started off with a great lunch with V, Minnie, Michelle Lawson, Deanna and Joe. I had a chance to visit with each of them over a hot dog. Could it get any better? After lunch we went on a little shopping trip for bling, shoes and purses! FANTASTIC!!!! Then it off to the city for a mini adventure with Joe and a wonderful dinner with his family (which I love!). Then to top of the night...V and Steve invited me over to visit before I left. They even had carrot cake for me, which is my favorite.

I have to say that I am pretty lucky and fortunate to have friends like this.

Although I had a veggie-burger with bacon, the BIG DOG hot dogs rule!
Dinner was a birthday celebration for a family friend. Jamie and I needed to buy a gift so our 4-hour mini adventure began at the Gap. The second we walked in, I went directly for the bright-colored button-down shirts along the wall. Jamie went the other direction. And as soon as I touched the third shirt, Jamie yelled from across the store, "Joe, Joe, come NOW!" Like a cute li'l puppy- I did, thinking that she found an amazing sale item of the day. She continued, "We need to find a gift and we're not here for you!" WTH!OMG! Where did that come from? Was that even Jamie talking? What happened to the laughing Jamie that I came into the store with? Well...I just thought that the heat index outside(93degrees) coupled with the anticipation of her departure, can turn anyone into a major B----(kidding JD)and went along with it. I did not want to create a scene. ;-) BUT, she was right and we needed to find a gift.
We left the store with another pair of flat front khakis for myself and Jamie walked away with 2cotton summer tops.
Oops- no gift.
We did purchase a book from He Who Eats Mud, a favorite local bookstore of mine.
Of course and before dinner we found time for a martini and a beer. JD had the beer. We people watched. We talked. We got on each other's nerves. We laughed out loud. We analyzed life.
Thank you Jamie.
I'm the lucky and fortunate one to have a friend like you.
