Yesterday I bought a bus ticket to travel to Fuentes Georgina. Fuentes Georgina is a natural hot spring that is located high in the mountains right outside of Xela. On the bus ride, I met so many people and two from the Chicago area. We exchanged emails as well as the books we brought to read (Courtney, I owe you a book and by the way it was awesome!) A few of us are going out tonight to eat, drink and be merry.
Back to Fuentes Georgina. As we climbed through the switchbacks, we had an awesome view of the cities below us. The mountains and vegetation here are nothing like I have ever seen! Once we got to Fuentes Georgina her surroundings were absolutely beautiful and the pictures I took do not expose her beauty. It was one of those you had to be there moments.
The Fuentes Georgina hot springs are supposed to be healthy for you. There were three different pools to sit in. I sat in the one that the water hits first and was in it for almost five hours. My body and skin felt so different after I got out (I actually wanted to rent one of the little cabins they have there but I thought it would probably get very cold in the evening). The hot springs did do me some justice, every ache and pain that I had was gone and my skin felt just like a newborn baby and still feels like it today (yes, I did shower).
On our way back to Xela as we were coming down the mountain the volcano Santa Maria blew smoke out. It was truly a spectacular sight. I thought to myself, when would I ever see something like this again? And how I was so lucky to have the chance to come here.
