San Pedro La Laguna

To get to San Pedro was a short 20 minute lancha ride from San Marcos. During the afternoon Lake Atitlan waves start up making the ride a little bumpy and wet. However, that is what happens when you play in the water. Once I got off the lancha, I absolutely feel in love with San Pedro (yes, I want to marry it)! San Pedro too has a Bohemian atmosphere. It is known for bongo playing and bong smoking! Talk about a hippie's dream. The life there is a mixture of the locals and rastafarian crowd. I ventured up the market street and found this wonderful resturant/bar called Freedom.

When you walked into Freedom, the first thing you saw was bean bags around tables, a couple old recliners and some tables and chairs. They even had water bowls for you dog. In the background you heard reggea music playing. I had to have a beer while I was there, Gallo of course! There was another bar that claimed to be a Hooka Lounge. I went in there, and they only had two Hooka's on hand. I think I should open up a Hooka Lounge there (Are you in Deanna?).

After wondering the streets of San Pedro for a while I decided that it was time for me to go back to my hotel and relax with a book. I got to the dock just in time for the last lancha to San Marcos. After everyone boarded the lancha we had to wait for our captain, and was he a treat! He was so gorgeous! I could not help but stare at him. I was sitting close enough to the back he said I could sit next to him while he drove the boat. What a great way to end your day!
